Shem to Abram

Genesis 11: 10-26

Two years after the flood Noah's son, Shem became a father himself. He named his son Arphaxad. Shem lived to be 500 years old and had other sons and daughters.

Arphaxad had a son named Shelah
Shelah had a son named Eber
Eber had a son named Peleg

(It is mentioned that in the time of Peleg the earth split....our continent use to be one whole land before it split in the continents it is divided into now, North America, South America, then across the sea we have Europe, Asia, South Africa and other lands. I wonder what it was like to travel on the earth back before it split - to be able to travel right across Europe into North America without having to board a ship or a plane?!)

Peleg had a son named Reu
Reu had a son named Serug
Serug had a son named Nahor
Nahor had a son named Terah
Terah fathered Abram, Nahor and Haran.

So begins the family line leading up to our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Family Line up to Noah

We've covered the first three males in the Patriarch line and going to fast forward the family tree line up to Noah.

Genesis 5:9-18

Enosh had a son named Kenan
Kenan had a son named Mahalalel
Mahalalel had a son named Jared
Jared had a son named Enoch

(A word about Enoch....son of Jared. Enoch walked with God and God took him away at age 365 years. What a fabulous story, even though very short. To have known God so intimately that God cherished Enoch so very much that He just took him away from earth and brought him up into heaven...I believe Enoch may well be one of the Patriarchs who will be with us in the end days as there is mention of two prophets who will come down to preach to the world...who knows..we just might get to see Enoch.) Genesis 5:19-24

Enoch fathered a son named, Methuselah
Methuselah had a son named Lamech
Lamech had a son named Noah.
And Noah had sons named Shem, Ham, and Japeth

Enosh, son of Seth

Enosh was 90 years old when he had a son who was named Kenan. Enosh lived 905 years and then died. Not much is known of Enosh either.

Genesis 5:9-11 "When Enosh had lived 90 years, he became the father of Kenan. And after he became the father of Kenan Enosh lived 815 years and had other sons and daughters. Altogether Enosh lived 905 years and then he died."

The name Enosh is from Hebrew origin and means "man" as it is a variant of Enos.

Seth, son of Adam

Seth. The son who took Abel's place. He was the image of his father Adam. He was born when Adam was 130 years old, the third son.

Not much is really known of Seth, only when he was born and when he had a son and when he died at the age of 912 years. At 105 years of age he became the father of Enosh.

Seth is the Hebrew word for Shayth, (Shet) meaning to put or to substitute.

Adam

Genesis 2:7 "the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being."

Adam. The first man. Created from dust of the ground. In God's own image. Our first Patriarch of the bible.

What was Adam like? Was he the first man? Did he have a belly button? Mmmm...good questions.

Well, he had no belly button as he was not born from a woman but created by GOD. As the verse in Genesis 2:7 tells us.

He was the first man on the planet earth, as the verse 1 Corinthians 15:45 says "So it is written: The first man Adam became a living being, the last Adam a life-giving spirit."

Adam and his wife Eve were more than likely fairly brown skinned as they would have had to have the right amount of dominant and recessive genes to create people of all races that exist today as well as having the right blood type's of A and B, which all other blood types come from.

He was the first human father, the first husband, the first farmer, the first taxonomist (that is a scientist who names all the animals and plants).

He was the first man who sinned, eating from the apple that Eve gave to him, which was forbidden. He also was the first "silent husband" who did not speak out against the sin and went along with it.

So creation of the population begins.
